Context & Challenge

The seller dashboard had too much information competing for attention.

  • Poor visual hierarchy. Too many elements looked equally important, making it difficult to understand where to look first.

  • Similar-looking widgets. Different types of information were difficult to distinguish at a glance.

  • Banner blindness. Sellers tended to ignore the promotional area because it felt more like advertising than useful content.

Goal

Make the dashboard easier to scan, prioritize what requires attention, and make promotional content more useful.

Actions & Solutions

Prioritized tasks
  • Added a task section to the first screen so sellers can immediately see what needs their attention.

Structured information
  • Grouped widgets into meaningful sections and added charts to make key data and trends easier to scan.

Integrated promotion into the experience
  • Replaced the feeling of a separate advertising area with useful platform updates, news, and new features.

Used research to guide the structure
  • Conducted domain research and worked with the team on JTBD to understand what sellers need from the dashboard.

  • When the team was unsure whether widgets were the right approach, we returned to the research before finalizing the direction.

Outcome

  • Clearer hierarchy of information on the first screen.

  • Faster visual scanning of key metrics, tasks, and updates.

  • Better distinction between different types of dashboard content.

  • Promotional content became more relevant to the seller's workflow rather than looking like standalone advertising.

The project was a redesign concept created during a design intensive based on a real Ozon product brief, so there were no post-launch metrics.
